The Association for Doctoral Education in Clinical Neuropsychology (ADECN) was in place by 1994 (Bieliauskas & Steinberg, 2003) and representatives from ADECN were part of the first Clinical Neuropsychology Synarchy (CNS) (now Clinical Neuropsychology Specialty Council) meeting in 1995. Although ADECN has experienced periods of inactivity over the past several decades, it has continued to contribute to clinical neuropsychology training efforts such as the Inter-Organizational Summit on Education and Training (ISET) Steering Committee (Sweet et al., 2012). ADECN reactivated most recently prior to the Minnesota 2022 Update Conference on Education and Training in Clinical Neuropsychology (MNC).
Based on a survey of clinical neuropsychology doctoral faculty (Calamia et al., 2024), ADECN has most recently prioritized advocacy and research sharing among programs. As part of the former, ADECN has actively advocated for the inclusion of research training at a level consistent with scientific foundation of our field within the MNC Guidelines. As part of the latter, it has recently partnered with KnowNeuropsychology to write questions for lectures that can be used by faculty who integrate those videos in their courses. With two active working groups focused on advocacy and research sharing, ADECN is committed to sustaining and expanding its efforts in these areas.
